Dr. Insiya Hussain
Dr. Insiya Hussain is a graduate from world renowned Rice University in Houston, Texas. She graduated with her Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering and proceeded to study dentistry at the prestigious University of Texas at San Antonio School of Dentistry.
Dr. Hussain continually furthers her education and dental skills by regularly attending continuing education courses, conventions and meetings.
Dr. Hussain is a part time clinical assistant professor at the UT Houston Dental School and she is an active member of the Rice Alumni Volunteers for Admission where she enjoys interviewing prospective students applying to Rice University.
Dr. Hussain is married and lives in Sugarland, Texas with her husband and two kids. She is multilingual and speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, Gujrati and is learning Spanish. She enjoys swimming, traveling and gardening in her free time.

Dr. Sam Asthana
Dr. Sam Asthana is a Sugar Land native. He was born in Brussels, Belgium, but was raised here in Fort Bend County, attending Sugar Land’s Clements High School before moving to Waco, TX for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Asthana was trained as a professional classical musician before entering the field of dental health, and he brings a focus on education, collaboration, and communication to the way he practices dentistry. A believer in total health, Dr. Asthana works not only to make his patients feel better in the office but also to provide them with the tools to stay healthy when they go home. His interest in practicing dentistry was born out of his love for teaching, his extroverted personality, and his passion for solving sometimes-difficult problems.
Dr. Asthana earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, where he graduated with a distinction in dental education and honors in leadership from the International College of Dentists and other organizations. Committed to lifelong learning and to collaboration between dentists, Dr. Asthana maintains a robust involvement with the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Clear Aligners.
When he’s not at work, Dr. Asthana can be found nerding out over coffee, reading cheesy sci-fi/fantasy novels, or attending his wife’s flute performances. Raised by restaurant owners, Dr. Asthana frequently cooks at home like a self-described mad scientist and sometimes has the burned eyebrows or singed fingertips to prove it.
Dr. Popi Stylianou
Dr. Popi Stylianou is originally from Nicosia, Cyprus. First in her class from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Dentistry, in Greece, she worked in private practice as a general dentist for two years. She also obtained a Certificate in Periodontics and Masters of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. In addition, she completed a one-year implant and prosthodontic fellowship on complex implant restorations and full-mouth rehabilitation at the University of Minnesota’s Implant and Contemporary Dentistry Center. Dr. Stylianou is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, and an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Her extensive training includes surgical periodontal and implant procedures, surgical treatment of periodontitis and peri-implantitis, soft tissue regeneration, periodontal adjunctive surgeries to orthodontics, as well as immediate temporization of implants for optimal esthetics. Her grasp of prosthodontic principles allows her to manipulate soft tissue and facilitate the restorative phase for her referring colleagues.
Dr. Stylianou is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, School of Dentistry. During the past four years, Dr. Stylianou has been an active member in the Admissions Committee, and a Thesis Committee member for many of the Graduate Periodontics residents. Dr. Stylianou’s current research interest focuses on Osseodensification. She is currently participating in a multicenter study evaluating Osseodensification and implant primary stability.
During her free time, Dr. Stylianou enjoys spending time with her family with hobbies in photography and interior design.
Dr. Naila Zafar
Dr. Naila Zafer is one of our office’s associate dentists. She is a native Houstonian and earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Houston. She attended University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio earning her degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Zafer decided to return to her hometown, to be close to family and friends. She continues to learn the latest advancements in dentistry by taking some of the best continuing education from top educators globally.
Dr. Zafer is very involved in the community work and has participated in multiple Texas Mission of Mercy events to provide dental care to undeserved population.
In her spare time, Dr. Zafer enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with the family. She is very excited to be a part of Smiles at Telfair and welcome all of you to the practice to serve all of your dental needs.
Dr. Hussain is one of the best dentists I've ever had. She's extremely positive and friendly, and explains any issues and causes before and after a service. It's easy asking her questions and voicing concerns. She has a wonderful staff and admin is very good about appointment reminders and confirmations. It's actually quite a pleasant experience visiting Smiles at Telfair—they beat all the dentist office scares and stereotypes :)

Right from the beginning when I walked through the door, every fear that I ever thought I would have coming back to the dentist was dissipated by Dr. Insiya and her staff. They took wonderful care of all my fears. They explained every little thing that I would be going through. Clean office and great staff!
This team is a good group of people/ professionals. The staff is always very informative and we always end up having a good laugh. This is the type of relationship I expect from a neighborhood Dentist. I had brought my Mother who doesn't speak English.
